Marketing and advertising are often confused to mean the same. The reason is that both aim at portraying and promoting the company in a positive manner. Advertising, on the other hand aims at increasing the number of existing and potential customers by using persuasive messages made be sponsors or by promoting products and services.

Advertising, media research, market planning, public relations, product pricing, distribution, sales strategy and customer support are included in marketing. The process of marketing requires a lot of time to be spent for proper planning so that it is effective. It aims at improving relations between the company and its customers.

Advertising is a single aspect of marketing. It aims at making people aware of the products and services being offered by the company. It involves developing strategies to place advertisements about the products and services in various media like newspapers, television, internet, billboards etc. It basically aims at promoting the products and services of a company through various techniques. An organization spends the maximum amount on advertising for higher returns in the business.
